Fleming – Shadows of the Damned
I almost left this spot open to any past or present rulers of video game hells, because there are plenty of them. Then I remembered Fleming from the woefully underrated horror game Shadows of the Damned. This guy sucks, and that’s almost definitely not a slight against his phallic-shaped head.
It takes all of the first 10 minutes of the game for Fleming to kidnap Garcia Hotspur’s girlfriend, Paula, so he can drag her to Hell to become his bride. Or something like that.
You spend most of the game unaware of his motives, until a book offers some muddled clarification. Honestly, I’m still not sure if Paula is another casualty in Fleming’s centuries-long attempt to replace the mistress he lost, or if she’s the actual former Queen of the Underworld who managed to escape from his torment, albeit temporarily.
Either way, this reminds me I really need to play this game again.
