Japanese pop metal band Babymetal are going to take over the United States! At the band’s sold out show in New York City, RAL/Sony Music VP of Marketing Bill Richards saw the band and knew what had to be done.
Richards stated:
After witnessing the band’s sold-out New York show, we knew we wanted to be involved. The core metal fans and metal press seem to get BabyMetal, which shows how the language of music transcends boundaries. They hit all the entertainment buttons and are really fun to watch.
The band’s self-titled debut album will be rereleased here in the States with two bonus tracks. It comes out digitally on May 12th and physically on June 16th.
Babymetal has gotten a lot of positive press, not only from publications but also from musicians such as Slash and Lady Gaga, for whom they opened up on one of her tours. The band will also be performing at this year’s Rock On The Range festival.
We’re pretty big fans of Babymetal here on BD, so this is pretty awesome news! I’m hoping for a full US tour because I’d 100% be down for seeing them perform.
