2. Cooties
Fresh out of Stanley Fest is Cooties, the long-awaited, highly anticipated, Leigh Whanell-written horror comedy which Wood produced and stars in. In the film, a mysterious virus hits the an elementary school through an infected chicken nugget, and it’s not long before the school children begin acting like vicious little monsters, attacking their teachers and scarfing down whatever morsel of flesh they can extract from their superiors. Now, the teachers have no choice but to fight back, if they ever want to leave school grounds again. Seemingly set in the same vein as Robert Rodriguez’s cult classic The Faculty, Cooties is rumored to be a hysterical, sweet love letter to horror, sci-fi comedies of the like, with plenty of “I can’t believe they did that” moments. Cooties has been making the festival circuit rounds for years, but it looks like it finally has a release date set for September 18th, 2015.
