The Tracking Board is reporting that Meg, the long-gestating monster shark movie, is moving forward over at Warner Bros. The film will be based off the Meg series written by Steve Alten, the first which was titled Meg: A Novel Of Deep Terror.
The books focus on deep sea diver Jonas Taylor who believes that a prehistoric Megalodon is alive and thriving in the Mariana Trench. The Megalodon escapes the temperature barrier of the Mariana Trench and begins wreaking havoc near the service along the California coast.
The latest script will be redone by Dean Georgaris (The Manchurian Candidate). The project has gone through multiple revisions, studios, and touched many major hands, including Guillermo Del Toro and Jan De Bont.
Warner Bros. apparently considers this film to be a “primary development”.
