Resident Evil
I don’t think I ever really expected Capcom to give us another Resident Evil game — like, say, something related to RE2 — to think about because that kind of announcement would only distract us from the one they’re trying to sell on us now. I’m sure the Resident Evil 0 HD remaster will be glorious, but a quick tease for Resident Evil 7 or even a third Revelations sure would be nifty.
Unofficial Status: I have no doubt there’s more Resident Evil on the way. I’m just not sure what form it will take when Capcom unveils it, possibly as early as Tokyo Game Show.
Everything Else
In my wish list, I mentioned wanting release dates for several of the higher profile indie horror games. Alas, Routine is still an enigma, as is Grave, and when we can expect to see The Forest and DayZ on PS4. Instead, the latter brought news of solo play.
That Alan Wake remaster didn’t surface either, so that rumor may end up being just that, a rumor.
Also taken from my almost completely unfulfilled list of wishes for this year’s E3 is any mention of what Creative Assembly (Alien: Isolation) or Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within) might be up to right now. Isolation did well enough in any sane person’s eyes to earn a sequel, but Bethesda’s been less open about how Shinji Mikami’s return to survival horror went.
And finally, since Climax still hasn’t revealed that weird dollhouse game I’ve been talking about for more than two years now, whatever it really is is as dead to me as Left 4 Dead 3. Oh, and fuck Konami for not apologizing for Silent Hills.
I’d rather not leave you on such a sour note, so here’s some hope instead. All of the above is going to change, it’s just a matter of when. I recommend you mark your calendars for Gamescom (Aug 5-9), Tokyo Game Show (Sept 17-20), and E3 2016 (June 14-16, 2016).
