Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, who are married, have spoken about returning to the Men in Black franchise with THR, which they say will be a “reinvented trilogy” and will most likely NOT include Will Smith. However, they both state that talks have been, “…very active“, so there’s a good chance that we’ll see some more alien action in the coming years.
Parkes and MacDonald have produce such films as American Beauty and Gladiator. They are also the team behind the upcoming documentary He Named Me Malala, which follows Pakistani teen Malala Yousafzai who was nearly killed in a Taliban gun attack.
As much as I enjoy the Men in Black movies, I have to say that they were on a rather steady downward slope in terms of quality and entertainment. I feel like a new, fresh start is not a bad thing, especially since they have a literal universe to draw ideas from.
