At the 2014 Comic Con, Joe Hill, who was then promoting his movie Horns, revealed that Universal Pictures was turning the phenomenal comic book series “Locke & Key” into a film trilogy. Unfortunately, today that news comes crashing down as BrokeHorrorFan confirmed with Hill that there will be no films.
However, Hill also told the site that there is still hope for a television series, although it failed to gain traction on both FOX and through IDW’s own publishing venture.
The series lends itself perfectly to TV, its episodic nature creating one intense cliffhanger after another. Plus, the visuals and story arcs are absolutely fascinating and could easily create several seasons of quality entertainment, if done properly and by people who are passionate about the project.
