Remedy Files Trademark for ‘Alan Wake’s Return’

Whatever could Alan Wake’s Return be?

The trademark that appeared on the OHIM database yesterday — via FastTrack, so someone was in a hurry — categorizes it as video game software with possible television features. The listing was spotted by NeoGAF user ekim, who noted Alan Wake’s second story expansion, The Writer, which left us with a tease for the titular writer’s next novel, “Return”.

This might be a hoax. It wouldn’t be the first time a troll registered a trademark for a highly anticipated game like this. It’s the only way they can feel anymore.

And if it’s not a hoax, a new trademark doesn’t necessarily mean a sequel’s in development. Remedy’s creative director even said as much at a lecture in Paris earlier this month. A matching domain registration doesn’t add much in the way of credibility, but we have that too.

Whatever this is — assuming it’s even anything — Remedy’s not going to illuminate us until after Quantum Break arrives in April.
