Alright, sometimes, and this is pretty freakin’ rarely, I post something on BD that isn’t exactly horror-related. Usually I’m good about finding a way to connect things that may seem somewhat questionable but I’m not going to do that here. This is just me loving the absolute shit out of what I’m presenting and I want to share that joy and excitement, especially as we enter the weekend.
So, today I’m stoked to introduce you to South Chicago progressive metal band Dissona and their cover of the Donkey Kong Country “Aquatic Ambience” level theme.
Now, I’m sure many of you are worried that they took that mysteriously beautiful song and just threw a bunch of distortion over it. However, I assure you that they gave the cover the attention, care, and love that it deserves! In fact, I think many of you will be pleasantly surprised!
If you dig the track as much as I did, make sure to download your FREE COPY! Who can deny the appeal of free stuff, right? And don’t forget to check out the band’s new album Paleopneumatic on their Bandcamp.
And finally, I’m asking all of you to leave a comment with a non-horror game that you played the absolute SHIT out of when you were growing up! Let’s go a little bit off-topic today and have some fun!
The band explains:
By request of Tony Meintanis, we give you our version of “Aquatic Ambience” from the Super Nintendo classic Donkey Kong Country. We tried to maintain the eerie atmosphere as best we could while augmenting it with some groove. Every one of us grew up playing the absolute hell out of this game and we are delighted and honored to pay it tribute.
