Swedish melancholic prog rock/metal band Katatonia are an exceptional group who release some seriously stunning music. My first venture into their world was with 2003’s Viva Emptiness, which blew me away and is still an album I listen to with great fondness and appreciation. I’ve also seen them multiple times throughout the years and each album since Viva Emptiness has gotten dozens of spins from me, if not more.
That’s why I’m beyond excited to hear that Katatonia has announced the upcoming release of their 10th studio album The Fall of Hearts, which will be coming out May 20th via Peaceville Records. The album marks the first new material since the band announced a revised lineup that features new drummer Daniel ‘Mojjo’ Moilanen and guitarist Roger Öjersson.

This album is probably everything we unknowingly ever dreamed of to release. It’s a bleak but adventurous journey through our elements, we haven’t held back, we have pushed to get forward and backward in the ever spiraling night of our musical legacy.
