Here’s the First Casting News for This Year’s ‘Saw: Legacy’

Published

The Saw franchise returns on October 27th.

We’ve heard precious little about this year’s Saw: Legacy, the first installment in the gory franchise in nearly a decade. Believe it or not, it’s already been seven years since those twisted torture devices stopped being an annual Halloween tradition, and though we still know next to nothing about the movie (which has already been shot), we do have some casting news tonight.

Variety reports that “Bitten” actress Laura Vandervoort (below) and Hannah Anderson (“Lizzie Borden Took an Ax”) will both star in the franchise’s upcoming eighth installment.

We’re still waiting on plot details and more info, so stay tuned.

Saw: Legacy was written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, the duo behind Piranha 3D, Piranha 3DD, and Sorority Row. In the director’s chairs were the Spierig brothers, Peter and Michael, who brought us Undead, Daybreakers and Predestination.

Franchise staples Mark Burg and Oren Koules returned to produce.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.
