We warned you.
As we recently noticed in a TV spot, Kong: Skull Island will bridge the gap between the Kong and Godzilla franchises; after all, the two monsters will do battle in a mash-up film set for release in 2020, so it only makes sense that they’re beginning to come together. Next month’s film will make mention of the 1954 mission to kill Godzilla… but that’s not the only connection.
A user over on IMDb just spoiled Kong: Skull Island‘s AWESOME end credits sequence:
Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) and Weaver (Brie Larson) are being held in an interrogation room, and Brooks (Corey Hawkins) and San (Tian Jing) come in and welcome them to Monarch. They show them a file of photographs and maps from the nuclear “tests” that were meant to kill Godzilla in 1954. A projector turns on to show them cave paintings of Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Screen goes black, Godzilla roars.
The implication is that Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah will likely be appearing in Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, hitting theaters one year before Godzilla vs. Kong.
Kong: Skull Island arrives on March 10th. Look for Godzilla: King of the Monsters on March 22nd, 2019 and Godzilla vs. Kong on May 29th, 2020.
