Yes, this year’s season of “American Horror Story” will draw inspiration from the 2016 presidential election, but just how much inspiration are we talking about? We’ve got an update.
At the Publicists Guild Awards luncheon in Beverly Hills on Friday, co-creator Ryan Murphy spoke briefly about the upcoming season, clarifying something he said when he recently made the big reveal on “Watch What Happens Live.” He noted that the season will have allegorical ties to the real-life election; we will not, however, be seeing Kathy Bates as Donald Trump.
Said Murphy:
The themes of American Horror Story have always been allegories. You will not see [Donald] Trump and [Hillary] Clinton as characters on the show.
He later joked:
Now as I look over at Sarah Paulson, I think of Kellyanne Conway. I don’t know! I might be rewriting!
Season 7 begins filming in June. Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will return.
