“Stranger Things” Star David Harbour Might Play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’

Published

David Harbour‘s acting career began way back in 2002, but with his role as Chief Jim Hopper on Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” I think it’s pretty safe to say that Harbour has now become a star. What’s next for Harbour? With Season 2 of “Stranger Things” headed our way this Halloween, we’re now hearing that he’s being considered to play Cable in Deadpool 2!

The Wrap reports that Harbour has been screen-tested for the role of Nathan “Cable” Summers by 20th Century Fox, though it’s important to point out that he has not, at this time, been cast. All we know is that Fox is apparently very interested in him right now.

From the official Marvel Directory, the time-traveling Cable (the adult son of Cyclops), is “a mutant whose physical attributes have been enhanced to superhuman levels. His principal mutant powers are his vast telepathic and telekinetic abilities. He can employ the latter to levitate objects and to create protective force shields. He must continually employ his telekinetic powers to prevent the techno-organic virus from affecting the rest of his body. His techno-organic left arm and shoulder possess even greater strength than his entirely organic ones. Cable’s techno-organic right eye can see into the infrared portion of the spectrum.

Cable made his first comic book appearance in 1990.

David Leitch (John Wick) is directing from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
