Burger Chain Johnny Rockets Has Special ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Milkshakes!

Dinner and a movie? How about milkshake and a movie?!

Just yesterday we were talking about the King Kong Twinkies that were released in conjunction with Peter Jackson’s 2005 film, which single-handedly paved the way for the year-round return of Hostess’ banana Twinkies. Naturally, being a big ole ape and all, Kong loves his bananas (he’d need to consume an estimated 400,000 of them a day in order to make his massive stomach happy!), so that makes it pretty easy for companies to whip up Kong-inspired food treats. And following in the footsteps of Hostess, burger chain Johnny Rockets has done just that this month.

For a limited time only, the chain is offering not one but two different Kong: Skull Island milkshakes, which you’d better act fast if you want to taste – after all, the movie hits theaters TONIGHT in most areas. Both shakes, naturally, have a banana theme: you can choose between the Peanut Butter Banana Shake and the Chocolate Banana Shake… or why not just get both?!

In addition to the shakes, several of the standard menu items can be made “Kong-Sized” at your request. Essentially, for example, they’ll add another patty to your bacon cheeseburger.

In the film, directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts…

A diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

The film was scripted by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy, and Derek Connolly.

Skull Island opens in theaters on March 10th, 2017, followed by Godzilla 2, which is being directed by Michael Dougherty, on March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong on May 29, 2020.

Dev Patel’s ‘Monkey Man’ Is Now Available to Watch at Home!

After pulling in $28 million at the worldwide box office this month, director (and star) Dev Patel’s critically acclaimed action-thriller Monkey Man is now available to watch at home.

You can rent Monkey Man for $19.99 or digitally purchase the film for $24.99!

Monkey Man is currently 88% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with Bloody Disgusting’s head critic Meagan Navarro awarding the film 4.5/5 stars in her review out of SXSW back in March.

Meagan raves, “While the violence onscreen is palpable and painful, it’s not just the exquisite fight choreography and thrilling action set pieces that set Monkey Man apart but also its political consciousness, unique narrative structure, and myth-making scale.”

“While Monkey Man pays tribute to all of the action genre’s greats, from the Indonesian action classics to Korean revenge cinema and even a John Wick joke or two, Dev Patel’s cultural spin and unique narrative structure leave behind all influences in the dust for new terrain,” Meagan’s review continues.

She adds, “Monkey Man presents Dev Patel as a new action hero, a tenacious underdog with a penetrating stare who bites, bludgeons, and stabs his way through bodies to gloriously bloody excess. More excitingly, the film introduces Patel as a strong visionary right out of the gate.”

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

Monkey Man is produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.
