Update on Next Year’s ‘Halloween’; John Carpenter Hopes to Score the Film

David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are looking to return Michael Myers to his terrifying roots in next October’s reboot of the Halloween franchise, which aims to undo a whole lot of the franchise’s messiness and get back to basics.

The new film will begin shooting this Fall ahead of a 2018 release.

Out of the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend, director Gordon Green provided an update on the project. Via reporter Jason Guerrasio on Twitter…

“David Gordon Green tells me John Carpenter has seen the script, given notes, digs it. Still wants to do score.”

Guerrasio later tweeted out of TIFF that the plan is “to shoot this fall with an eye on a Halloween night opening in 2018.”

We had previously heard that the film would be arriving on October 19, 2018.

John Carpenter will executive produce the new film with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Gordon Green and McBride will also executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.
