Known to many for playing Mr. Wilhelm in eleven episodes of “Seinfeld,” prolific character actor Richard Herd has passed away at the age of 87, we’ve learned this week.
“Herd died of cancer-related causes at his home in Los Angeles,” THR reports.
With over 150 credits on an acting resume that dates back to 1970, Richard Herd recently appeared on the big screen as the villain Roman Armitage in Jordan Peele’s Get Out, the founder of the Order of the Coagula. Many years prior, Herd had played Chairman Spencer in the 1984 genre film Trancers, and he also starred in “Tales from the Crypt” episode ‘Deadline.’
Other notable titles on Herd’s resume include All the President’s Men, Terror Out of the Sky, The China Syndrome, “MASH,” Schizoid, Private Benjamin, “Dallas,” “V: The Final Battle,” “T.J. Hooker,” “The A-Team,” “Knight Rider,” Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Gleaming the Cube, “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “SeaQuest 2032,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Shameless.”
Herd voiced Preacher Whitting in the video game “BioShock Infinite.”
Richard Herd is survived his wife of 40 years, Patricia Crowder Herd.
