It seems like just yesterday that Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later (seriously, that’s the whole title; I’m legally obligated to write all of it) was released. I remember thinking to myself, “What a coincidence, that Scream should refresh mainstream interest in horror movies, just in time to capitalize on the 20th anniversary of Halloween!” And here we are, another 20 years on, and another revival of the Hallowed franchise is standing atop the box office yet again.
Danny! and Tim have a rich history of reviewing the original Halloween films and their Rob Z remakes, but this latest installment of the saga of Laurie and Michael gives Double Murder a chance to do something interesting: review the 20-year check-ins of the franchise. Can a Scream-clone hold up as well as the original film after 20 years? Can we trust the town of Haddonfield to a team of comedy writers? Tune in to Double Murder to find out!
Oh, and in case you think Rob Zombie’s Halloweens are better than you remember: they’re not.
