Cum on Trace
Following two weeks of high profile franchise entries in the form of the first Final Destination and the fifth Child’s Play film, Seed of Chucky, Trace and I are heading to the Great White North in search of werewolves with the first entry of the Ginger Snaps trilogy. Joining us is Ariel Fisher, who spends a ton of time patiently explaining a variety of topics including menstruation, feminine hygiene products, female puberty changes and even pansexuality.
This is, of course, all in service of one of the most recognized and celebrated Canadian horror films in recent memory. Ginger Snaps tells the story of two melancholy sisters growing up in small town suburbia and how their relationship changes when older sister Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) is attacked by a werewolf. It’s a quintessential coming of age film and ripe for discussion.
Oh, and Trace consumes an entire bottle of wine, so you know things are going to get raunchy!

Episode 26 – Ginger Snaps (2000) feat. Ariel Fisher
It’s a maple leaf takeover! Just in time for Canada Day, Joe stacks the pod with both a Canadian film and a Canadian guest, Ariel Fisher, for another gang-up on Trace. The trio venture into the wilds of Toronto suburbia for a discussion of lycanthropy, the “horrors” of menstruation and how Katharine Isabelle can help facilitate the coming out process.
Also up for grabs: Joe and Trace’s inability to do basic math, a discussion of feminine hygiene products, the struggles John Fawcett’s production faced due to Columbine, and Trace’s true feelings about Canada.
Plus – naturally – a discussion of werewolf transformations that devolves into the usual bathroom humor that you’ve come to expect. At least Ariel is around to class up the joint!
