‘Kill Bill: Vol. 2’ Opens with a Vicious Battle of the Blondes [The Lady Killers Podcast]
“She must suffer to her last breath.”
We all have that co-worker who knows how to get under our skin. Perhaps we’re polar opposites and continually find ourselves butting heads. Or maybe the problem is that we’re too much alike and can’t avoid direct competition. Whatever the case, we reluctantly coexist, not willing to jeopardize our livelihoods to seek the revenge we so desperately desire.
Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol: 2 adds deadly stakes to a similar feud when Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah) attempts to permanently eliminate her workplace rival. They may not share an office space or find themselves sparring over Google Meets, but these two members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad both vie for the affections of their supervisor, the enigmatic Bill (David Carradine).
After two attempts at assassination, Elle finally reunites with the Bride (Uma Thurman), but not in the way she’d expected. The revenge-seeking assassin has been shot with rock salt and buried alive by another member of this ill-fated team. Though Budd (Michael Madsen) intends to sell the Bride’s valuable sword, Elle takes matters into her own hands. She murders Budd in his ramshackle trailer and lies to Bill about how it all went down. But the Bride has dug herself out of the dirt and challenges Elle to a deadly duel.
In the latest episode of Bloody FM’s The Lady Killers, co-hosts Jenn Adams and Sammie Kuykendall are joined by special guest Rachel Reeves for the penultimate chapter in their ongoing series. They’ll discuss Elle Driver’s fabulous looks and dissect her abrasive personality. Why does Elle hate the Bride? Has she played a hand in raising Bill’s daughter? Is the assassin actually in love with Bill and why does she get to reveal the Bride’s name? They’ll dig through feelings of relief and regret while discussing this stylish, yet sinister woman.
