“Roche Limit”#4 is a convergence of sorts, many dangling plot threads are woven together for the first time. Pay offs are beginning to trickle in, more of this world is revealed than ever before and the stakes have never been higher for Roche Limit. There’s no going back after this issue, for our protagonists and for us readers, if you’re not hooked now you’ll never be.

Moreci’s Roche Limit openings are bar none some of the best in comics today. I’m as giddy as a school girl every issue to see how he’s going to open my mind in an exciting and meaningful new way. They’re the silky smooth chocolate covering the delectable story nougat centre. This issue’s also has the added bonus of revealing a secret that’s been off to the side and in the shadows up until now, those wrinkly ghouls. The revelations surrounding them and the anomaly are exquisite, showing that Moreci isn’t afraid to take chances and grasp at some weird, out there stuff. I’m 110% into it.
We are also treated to a few characters we’ve been following for some time now finally interact with each other. Accomplishing goals and acquiring answers only stirs up more complex and dangerous questions. Goals that seemed so difficult and far off back in issue one have now become the stepping stones for mysteries greater than imagination.
I do however have one gripe with this issue and it happens during an incredibly heated hostage exchange.

Alex is supposed to exchange himself for Bekkah who’s being held by Warren and a few of his goons. Alex has a device in his chest that could explode if he were to perish, so instead of handing himself over he points a gun to his own head and threatens to shoot himself if they don’t hand over Bekkah. I don’t have an issue with the mechanics of the situation it just happens all too fast. Most of it occurs on a single page and Warren calmly gives in immediately, it’s way too easy.
Nitpicks aside I cannot praise this series enough, it’s in the top tier of Image Comics and reading in general. Roche Limit #4 is another high point for a series that knows nothing but high points.
