‘Child’s Play’ (2019) Is Fine, But No One’s Friend in the End [Halloweenies Podcast]

Published

on

Get ready: Next year marks the fifth anniversary of Child’s Play. “Wait, what? Five years? That movie came out in the ’80s!” Right, but we’re talking about the remake that came and went in the Summer of 2019. Don’t remember that one? Good news, the Halloweenies do, and they’re covering it today as part of their ensuing, year-long crawl through Don Mancini’s still-running franchise over at Universal.

To bide the time until the rest of Chucky Season 3 arrives, you can join the gang as they shed a light on Lars Klevberg’s remake for Orion/United Artists that starred Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and the voice of Mark Hamill. Together, they discuss the differences between the original and this one, our fear of technology, the comparisons to this year’s M3GAN, and similar remakes/reboots of familiar IP.

Stream the episode below or subscribe via Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, RadioPublic, Acast, Google Podcasts, and RSS. New to the Halloweenies? Catch up with the gang by revisiting their essential episodes on past franchises such as Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Scream, and The Evil Dead. This year? It’s Chucky!

‘Mayfair Watchers Society’ Podcast Returns for Season 2 on the Bloody FM Network

Published

on

The smash hit Bloody FM audio drama podcast Mayfair Watchers Society is finally returning for Season 2 on May 30. The scripted series is based on the artworks of popular horror artist Trevor Henderson.  Season 1 debuted on the top 10 fiction podcasts on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and it has reached almost 1 million downloads and counting.

The town of Mayfair is just like any other: tidy lawns and book clubs, bake sales and Sunday school. And just like any other town, Mayfair has a secret – one that everyone knows, but almost no one says: Along the bus routes and down silent wooded roads, behind the mill and at the dark end of parking lots, at the edge of the porch, just beyond the lamp light, things move in the shadows. But, Mayfair is a town like any other: and a secret like this can only stay hidden for so long.

“In season two, the town of Mayfair will be dealing with some big changes due to the presence of Pan-Continental Energy and its fracking operation,” says Mayfair showrunner Kale Brown, also known for creating sci-fi audio drama podcast SINKHOLE.

The podcast already returned from hiatus this week with the bonus episode “Troublemaker,” where a new resident of Mayfair, whose parents work for Pan-Continental Energy, returns to her controversial livestreaming hobby.
