Vertigo Gets High on ‘Shrooms’ Sequel… in 3-D

Published

on

Indie distrib-shingle Vertigo Films — who brought us great flicks like The Children, Bronson and the forthcoming Monsters — has added two 3D pics to its slate, including low-budget horror A Night in the Woods and a sequel to 2007’s horror Shrooms. Woods is set to lens in October and will be directed by Richard Parry. The Shrooms sequel is still in early stages but the shingle will co-produce the pic with Irish production outfit, Treasure Entertainment, which produced the 2007 installment. No details are available on either. Pffft. Managing director Rupert Preston said while the shingle’s 3D slate is robust, the shingle won’t shoot any pic in the format. “Not every film we make will be in 3D,” he said. “But the younger audiences do expect it now and the format massively enhances the entertainment value. We’re not jumping on a bandwagon; we’re just looking to push the envelope further.” Vertigo also produced Hammer Films’ Wake Wood, Waz and Outpost.
