Last month, New Jersey’s North Bergen High School went viral for its insanely impressive stage play inspired by Ridley Scott‘s Alien, a low-budget production with incredible sets, costumes and yes, even a Xenomorph. The play caught the attention of Sigourney Weaver, and the actress made a surprise appearance at the school’s encore presentation on “Alien Day.”
Now, the entire “Alien Day” encore presentation has been uploaded to YouTube that includes Weaver’s surprise introduction that was given a rousing standing ovation!
I watched the entire play this morning and it’s more than worth your time. The costumes and sets are phenomenal, and it’s way fun to see how they pull off some of the film’s most iconic moments, including the chest burster. There are also some bonus easter eggs hiding within as the production tips a hat to James Cameron’s Aliens.
I think the best thing about this going viral is that more schools will follow suit and I hope to be reporting on way more horror-themed stage plays in the coming years. We’re here for it!
