As the saying goes, t’was so nice the first time, Free League Publishing is doing it twice. The TTRPG developer has announced a Kickstarter for the second edition of their Alien RPG tabletop game, as well as a new cinematic scenario called Rapture Protocol.
Set to launch later this Fall, the Kickstarter will include updated and expanded core rules for Alien RPG, an updated Starter Set, and the new cinematic scenario Rapture Protocol, which includes a miniatures set. All of the existing game material from the first edition will be compatible with this new edition, and you will even be able to play the new edition expansions with the first edition rules.
The new 2e starter set will be redesigned as the perfect starting point for newcomers to the Alien RPG universe, containing everything they need for game night including abridged 2e rules, character sheets, custom dice, reference cards, handouts, and an expanded 2e edition of the fan-favorite Hope’s Last Day scenario, set on Hadley’s Hope just prior to the events of Aliens.
Meanwhile, the new cinematic scenario boxed set, Rapture Protocol, written by Jonathan Hicks and Free League’s Tomas Härenstam, returns to the roots of the Alien franchise, featuring the crew of a small star freighter on a resupply run to the remote industrial colony that soon runs into Xenomorph activity.
The miniatures set is designed to bring the events of Rapture Protocol to life, but they will also fully complement other adventures and skirmish battles throughout the Alien RPG series.
