Ancient Magic Meets Murder Mystery in Teaser for AMC+ Series ‘Yaga’ Starring Carrie-Anne Moss
AMC+ and Crave unveiled a first look at the upcoming mystery thriller series YAGA at the San Diego Comic-Con International this weekend, ahead of its debut this Halloween season.
The new eight-episode, half-hour drama reimagines the myth of Baba Yaga as a contemporary mystery thriller set in a small coastal town, and it’ll arrive this October on AMC+.
Yaga follows “Rapp (Noah Reid, Schitt’s Creek, The Vampire Lestat), a private investigator who arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of a young heir to a powerful fishery, Henry Park (Hudson Williams, Heated Rivalry). He finds himself at odds with an apprehensive local detective, Carson (Clark Backo, Venom: The Last Dance, Letterkenny), a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men, Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss, Matrix Films, Memento), and a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.”
The series is based on the hit play by showrunner and writer Kat Sandler.
Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle, and Hiro Kanagawa, along with Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris, and Sam Krochmal also star.
David Frazee (Chapelwaite, Reginald the Vampire) and Rachel Talalay (Riverdale, A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting) serve as co-directors for Yaga.
Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller, and Carrie-Anne Moss are executive producers; and Charles Cooper is producer.
Watch the new teaser below that dabbles in magick and sets up an atmospheric murder mystery surrounding the slavic folklore of Baba Yaga, a which who devours flesh and lives in a hut with chicken legs.
