At long last, “Black Mirror” is returning to Netflix! After months of speculation, the streaming service has officially announced a June 5th launch for the newest season that consists of three new episodes.
With the news comes a trailer that teases three all-new stories, one of which that looks like a creepy robot short in the vein of “Blinky” and the forthcoming Child’s Play reboot. Then there’s a story about fame, social media, and the overuse of our mobile phones. “Black Mirror” has always seamlessly blended entertainment with social commentary and is more “Twilight Zone” than the new “Twilight Zone”.
The new season features big names that include Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.
For those missing out on the fun, “Black Mirror” is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.
