From creator Kevin Williamson (Scream), CBS All Access’ “Tell Me a Story” took the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagined them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller, and the second season wrapped up this past February. Alas, that second season will be the show’s *final* season, Deadline reports today.
CBS All Access has made the decision to cancel “Tell Me a Story,” and the first two seasons of the show have been scooped up by The CW. Deadline explains, “Seasons 1 & 2 of Tell Me a Story will continue to be available on CBS All Access across platforms, with the CW licensing the first two seasons for a second-window run.”
“The brilliant Kevin Williamson brought our favorite fairy tales to life in an anthology format that twisted and subverted the stories we all know into modern thrillers,” said CBS All Access EVP Original Content Julie McNamara. “It has been a privilege to work with such an elite and talented group of creative minds like Kevin, Aaron Kaplan and the team at Kapital Entertainment, as well as the amazing cast of Tell Me A Story, who did a phenomenal job personifying and reinventing beloved characters from these six fairy tales.”
Those six fairy tales included The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.
No word yet on when “Tell Me a Story” will debut on The CW.
