“Not Over Yet”: Mads Mikkelsen Is Getting Us Excited About a “Hannibal” Revival Again

Fans of Bryan Fuller’s short-lived NBC series “Hannibal” are as hungry as ever for a revival of the series, and next year marks 10 YEARS since the series came to an end. So are we any closer to that “Hannibal” revival? And is Mads Mikkelsen still interested in coming back?

Chatting with Business Insider this week, Mikkelsen made it clear that his passion for stepping back into the suits of Hannibal Lecter has not waned in the slightest in the past ten years.

“It’s no secret that all of us who were part of the cast and Bryan, we all want to go back,” Mikkelsen tells the outlet. “It’s got to happen eventually sooner than later because we’re not getting any younger, right? But the story itself can jump, it can have that gap, which is fine. So it’s all about finding a home for it, but that’s nothing concrete out there now.”

Mikkelsen continues, “He’s got a few ideas, Bryan. So I can’t really reveal any, in case we do start, but I’m sure [Hannibal and Will survived the events of Season 3] somehow.”

The actor later said in the same interview, “I really don’t want to go back to any of my characters, except maybe for Hannibal because he’s not over yet. But things are done when they’re done and then we move on. I might be persuaded for some crazy, funny characters. But I don’t feel there’s anything I want to redo. The next step is a new dream.”

Creator Bryan Fuller has been keeping the hope alive for the return of “Hannibal” ever since NBC pulled the plug back in 2015, but at this moment in time, there seems to be no actual movement in regards to any sort of revival. As Mikkelsen notes, the hope is that a network or streamer will see the value in picking the show up and bringing it back for a fourth season.

“Hannibal” ran for three seasons on NBC between 2013 and 2015, and the show’s massively dedicated fanbase has been hungry for its return for nearly ten years now. Most recently, the CBS series “Clarice” brought the world of The Silence of the Lambs back to the small screen with a reboot in 2021, but the series has seemingly dropped off the face of the Earth.

It’s only a matter of time before Hannibal Lecter returns to the screen. Here’s hoping it’s Mads Mikkelsen who once again finds himself in the role. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.

In the wake of the five-season animated series “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous,” Netflix’s “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” is stomping its way onto the platform this year.

“Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” premieres May 24, and the series is set six years after the events of “Camp Cretaceous.” Watch the official trailer from Netflix below.

While the other characters from “Camp Cretaceous” are back in the new series, what’s interesting here is that Jenna Ortega’s Brooklynn is not coming back. As the official “Chaos Theory” trailer reveals, Brooklynn was killed off between shows, with the character’s death kickstarting the “conspiracy thriller” events of this brand new Jurassic World sequel series.

Jenna Ortega had voiced Brooklynn for all five seasons of “Camp Cretaceous.”

In the CG-animated series from Universal, DreamWorks and Amblin Entertainment…

“Six years later, members of “The Nublar Six” are struggling to find their footing off the islands, navigating a world now filled with dinosaurs and people who want to hurt them.

“Reunited in the wake of a tragedy, the group comes together only to find themselves on the run and catapulted into a global adventure to unravel a conspiracy that threatens dinosaur and humankind alike and finally learn the truth about what happened to one of their own.”

There will be 10 episodes in the show’s first season, running 22-minutes each.

Scott Kreamer, Aaron Hammersley serve as Executive Producers and Showrunners, with Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Frank Marshall also serving as Executive Producers.

Speaking of Jurassic World, a brand new live action movie is also coming soon. It doesn’t yet have a title, but it’s releasing July 2, 2025, and Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star.
