James Wan‘s Atomic Monster To Develop Horror Indie Game ‘Pacific Drive’ into TV Series
Ironwood Studios’ supernatural survival title Pacific Drive became a surprise hit upon release earlier this year. Now, Variety reports that James Wan’s Atomic Monster production company has acquired rights to develop Pacific Drive into a TV series.
The game created by Cassandra Dracott is “a retropunk-style driving and survival game set to an experimental electronic music soundtrack that challenges players to escape a surreal and abandoned exclusion zone with their car as their only companion in the dark and chilling world.”
The survival-horror driving sim puts players behind the wheel of a quirky station wagon stranded in a supernaturally-afflicted version of 1990s Cascadia, with players dealing with radioactive storms, sentient dumpsters and other dangerous anomalies.
James Wan and Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Rob Hackett will executive produce the TV series adaptation of the project along with Jeff Ludwig of The Menagerie Productions. The series has not been picked up by a streamer or network as of yet, but it’s still early in the development process.
Luis H.C. wrote in his 4-star review of the game, “It’s not just the mechanics that suck you in, however. From the heavily stylized recreation of the Pacific Northwest wilderness to the moody radio that keeps you company as you travel on lonely roads, it’s really easy to engage with this interactive master-class in atmosphere despite the general lack of traditional action.” And, “Of course, it’s often said that the greatest thing a work of art can do is leave you wanting more, and that is certainly the case with Pacific Drive.”
Fresh from being earning a nomination from The Game Awards this year, Pacific Drive most recently released a free Winter update package for fans.
The news comes on the heels of Atomic Monster’s “Teacup” that premiered this Fall, and the production company is already hard at work on “The Munsters” reboot series “1313.”
Stay tuned for additional details on Pacific Drive as they arrive.

‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Season 2 Trailer – The Dark Animated Series Returns July 31
The Caped Crusader is back in the upcoming Batman: Knightfall animated trilogy event, and he’s also returning this Summer in the second season of “Batman: Caped Crusader.”
Prime Video has announced this morning that “Batman: Caped Crusader” Season 2 will premiere on July 31 on Prime. In the meantime, watch the new official trailer down below.
In “Batman: Caped Crusader” Season 2, there are new villains on the streets of Gotham City and there’s only one man for the job. This season, it’s not a fight anymore. It’s a WAR…
The animated series “Batman: Caped Crusader” is a “reimagining of the Batman mythology” from J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, Bruce Timm, Sam Register and Ed Brubaker.
“Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—The Batman.
“His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.”
Daniel Kurland wrote in his review of the first season, “Batman: Caped Crusader’s unique, terrifying take on established corners of the DC universe is sure to resonate with horror fans, comic book aficionados, and everything in between. Caped Crusader’s immersion into EC Comics ideology and a true indulgence in horror is a superpower that’s more fascinating and dangerous than any WayneTech gadget or Kryptonite-powered super-suit.”
Hamish Linklater voices Batman/Bruce Wayne in the series, alongside Mckenna Grace, Reid Scott, Dane Donohue, Gary Anthony Williams, Jason Watkins, John Dimaggio, Krystal Joy Brown, Michelle C. Bonilla, Eric Morgan Stuart, Tom Kenny, Minnie Driver, Diedrich Bader, Jamie Chung and Christina Ricci.
Based on DC characters, “Batman: Caped Crusader” hails from Warner Bros. Animation, Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Reeves’ 6th & Idaho. Along with Abrams, Reeves and Timm, “Batman: Caped Crusader” executive producers include Ed Brubaker, James Tucker, Daniel Pipski, Rachel Rusch Rich, and Sam Register.
