Nominees for The Game Awards 2024 Announced; ‘Silent Hill 2’ Earns Five Nominations

Geoff Keighley and company are back again for 2024 edition of The Game Awards on December 12. Nominees for this year’s event have been unveiled, with Sony having the lion’s share of nominations with 16 nominations across its combined portfolio. That includes ASTRO BOT and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, each with seven nominations, including Game of the Year. They’re joined by in the Game of the Year category by Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (which has four nominations overall), Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, and Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Sadly, horror fans are left out of the mix for Game of the Year, though Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 has earned five nominations this year, including Best Narrative, Best Action/Adventure, Best Performance (Luke Roberts as James Sunderland), Best Audio Design, and Best Score and Music (Akira Yamaoka). Other genre titles nominated this year include Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Helldivers II with four nominations each, Diablo IV with two nominations, and Pacific Drive with a single nomination for Best Debut Indie Game. Prime Video’s Fallout series is up for Best Adaptation.

Along with the awards, there will be the expected reveals by studios. Though nothing has been confirmed, Resident Evil fans are obviously hoping that Resident Evil 9 shows up, while the rumour of Back 4 Blood 2 being in development also has the potential of getting a reveal. Then there’s also the next BioShock entry, which finally ramped up production earlier this year. Speculate away down below as to what titles you’d like to see finally revealed.

The Game Awards 2024 will air live on December 12 at 4:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 p.m. ET from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. Fans can vote now in all categories via the official website.
