‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ Launches New Website; New Jason & New Map Coming Soon!

Published

on

In addition to Friday the 13th: The Game getting a Playstation 4 and Xbox One release on Friday, October 13, we also know that a new patch is in the works that’ll bring smaller, deadlier maps into the game. But what else is coming soon?

Over on the just launched official website for Friday the 13th: The Game, the game’s developers are offering up a whole bunch of upcoming content teases. For starters, a “Spring Break ’84” clothing pack will soon be available, which will allow all of the counselors to rock bathing suits and bikinis.

More importantly, a new playable Jason with unique kills is coming soon!

Oh and what about maps? Well, you’ll be happy to know that a brand new map, based on a film in the Friday the 13th franchise, is in the works… and it’s “coming sooner than you might think.” Additionally, new counselors are soon going to be added, and the site teases that they may be based on movie characters.

As previously announced, new character emotes and kills are also on the way.

We still don’t yet know what that whole “seven black dots, one blue dot” teaser is all about, but keep your eyes locked on the new website for more info!

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
