Serial Killers Unite in Trailer For Asymmetrical Multiplayer Horror ‘Last Year: The Nightmare’

Recently, we had a hands-on preview of Discord Store exclusive title Last Year: The Nightmare, an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game akin to Dead By Daylight and Friday The 13th: The Game (which, incidentally, is free on PS Plus today). It’s promising, but the wider world didn’t really have a measure of what to expect of it as the last time the public saw it was two years ago.

But now, with a promise that the game is coming soon to PC, we get a new trailer from Montreal-based developer Elastic Games that better reflect the game’s current state and the quirks of its various killers and victims.

Last Year: The Nightmare takes place on Halloween night in 1996 and sees a group of teenagers stuck in a nightmarish version of their hometown and stalked by a supernatural entity known as ‘The Nightmare’ that takes the form of multiple killers to hunt and kill them. The basic objective? Survive, fight back, and somehow get out of this situation.

Unfortunately, the teens in this trailer don’t quite manage any of that and the various forms of the killer inflict some brutal and deadly punishment (that beatdown! Ouch).

The other notable thing about Last Year: The Nightmare is that it’s one of the first games to be sold through Discord’s store. It will be sold on other services at a later date, but Discord has dibs on selling Last Year first.

Last Year: The Nightmare is due to release this fall, but no set date has been announced.
