Hoping to counter the bad vibes surrounding Fallout 76, Bethesda have announced that the game will be getting a new PvP mode, which is now in Beta.
Called Survival, the new mode will share all of the same quests, events, and story elements as the main game (referred to as Adventure), but players can expect a more hostile environment in this new mode. Instead of the opt-in PvP system in Adventure, Survival makes it so that those players not on your team or participating in an event with you are now marked as hostile.
Your old characters will still work in Survival, with all progress being carried over between the two modes. Level scaling will also work the same way as it does in Adventure, with newly-created Survival characters not being overwhelmed when they first set out.
In addition, players who die in Survival mode won’t be able to use the “seek revenge” respawn option against aggressors, and can only choose to respawn at their C.A.M.P. or Vault 76. Bethesda is “also planning to award you double the Caps when you kill another player, and they may drop their Aid or other items in addition to their Junk.” Lastly, the new mode will include leaderboards.
The Survival Beta is planned for a March release. In the meantime, you can read up on the upcoming update Patch 5 from Fallout 76’s official site.
