Frogwares has released Update 1.1.0 for their Lovecraftian survival horror title The Sinking City 2, bringing bringing with it several gameplay tweaks, new technical features and improvements, along with over 150 fixes. Alongside the update, the Steam demo is returning to the game’s page. This time, players can carry their save from the demo directly into the full game. Players on PlayStation Plus and Xbox can also try The Sinking City 2 through their respective demos.
Update 1.1.0 adds changes and tweaks to certain combat encounters that some players found overwhelming, with fewer enemies and lighter wave compositions across several key fights.
“We’ve been keeping a close eye on what players and reviewers have been saying since launch, and we wanted to act on that feedback,” explains Sergiy Oganesyan, Publishing Director at Frogwares. “Update 1.1.0 tackles some of the biggest points we’ve seen raised, while also bringing features players have been asking for.”
Several encounters have been reworked to reduce enemy pressure and make fights more manageable without removing the challenge. Fewer enemies and lighter wave compositions have been introduced in the encounters players highlighted as “particularly overwhelming.”
HDR support has been added across all platforms, including HDR10+, allowing players with compatible displays to experience The Sinking City 2 with expanded contrast and a wider range of brightness. Meanwhile, PC players can now find AMD FSR 4.1.1 among the available Video settings. A new Legacy mode has also been added for NVIDIA DLSS.
The Sinking City 2 now supports PlayStation 5 Pro, including PSSR. Quality Mode benefits from strand-based hair, improved Lumen lighting, and higher-quality reflections, while Performance Mode now renders at a higher internal resolution.
The game’s post-completion mode, Ex Oblivione, has been reworked. Inventory slot and weapon upgrades now carry over, while Pure New Game has been added for players looking for a completely clean run after finishing the game. Lastly, players can also unlock two new outfits for protagonist Calvin Rafferty: The Warlock and The King in Yellow.
The Sinking City 2 is available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Check out Luiz’s thoughts on the game.
