Bethesda Celebrates 25 Years of ‘The Elder Scrolls’ With a Free Copy of ‘Morrowind’!
While the series didn’t really hit the mark until the second entry with Daggerfall, Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series celebrates a quarter century this year. And to celebrate, for today only, you can own one of the most beloved entries in the series (that isn’t Skyrim).
If you head over to Bethesda’s website, you’ll see that you can grab a copy of Morrowind for absolutely nothing. The only catch is that you’ll have to sign up with Bethesda, click on the link to redeem your copy, and enter the code. Boom.
Celebrate #TES25 with a free copy of Morrowind on PC TODAY ONLY.
Sign into your Bethesda net account and claim your digital copy using code: TES25TH-MORROWIND https://t.co/blVoJUO0n3 pic.twitter.com/SBqdj8B1zr

And seeing as it’s Morrowind, there are still some existing bugs with the game, some of which make it rather difficult to play on modern PCs. For that, you’ll have to head over to ModDB and download the fan fixes and enhancements.
In addition, Bethesda is having a Free Play event for Elder Scrolls Online, which will take place from March 28th until April 3. The Free Play Event includes access to the base game. You can head over to the Free Play access page now for more info.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
