We’ve talked before about Masahiro Ito revealing to fans of the Silent Hill series the meaning behind the various monsters you encounter in the games. He’s also given fans a glimpse into some of the behind the scenes stuff that Konami has never revealed (such as Silent Hill 3 originally being a rail shooter).
This time around, Ito details the meaning behind the creepy faceless nurses from Silent hill 2. Responding to a fan comment about the nurses, Ito explained the meaning behind the monster’s look:

Ito then segued into explaining the meaning behind the Lying Figure monster essentially representing SH2 protagonist James Sunderland’s wife Mary lying in bed.
It would be better to use Metaphor, instead of Representative.

Ito also provided an update of sorts as to being able to reveal more of his concept art from the cancelled 2013 Silent Hill project. Konami is open to the idea, but at the same time, Ito says that “It will be impossible to tell you the details of that cancelled title, and I’m not going to tell them. I hope you understand.”

Despite that, from a retweet of a fan wanting a lore/art book for the entire Silent Hill series, it appears that Ito really does want this stuff out there. But as always, it’s up to Konami to give the green light.
