[Video] Deal With Your Madness in Lovecraftian Throwback Shooter ‘Forgive Me Father’

Published

on

The goodies keep rolling in from 3D Realms’ Realms Deep showcase with the announcement of another retro horror first-person shooter. Developed by 1C Entertainment, Forgive Me Father is set for release in Early Access via Steam on October 28.

A mashup of Lovecraft and comic book stylings, Forgive Me Father‘s description is cryptic, but suits the game: taking on the role of a priest or a journalist, you must try to keep your sanity about you as you make your way through a mad world filled with nightmarish creatures, trying to figure out just what the hell happened.

Drawing heavily from the mood Lovecraft established in his work, you’ll have to watch and maintain your humanity. Forgive Me Father features a “madness” system that affects “the audio-visual experience and the gameplay itself”. Not to mention like many of its ilk, borrows heavily from 90s FPS with elements such as first aid kits and life points, non-reloading weapons and powerups.
