Rumour: Survival Horror-Themed ‘Alien’ Game Being Developed for 2023; ‘Alien: Isolation’ Sequel Pitched

Published

Time once again to quote Brian Glover, as this is Rumour Control. Fans of Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation (which pretty much includes everyone) have been longing for a follow-up, and not only does this rumour concern a sequel, there’s also rumoured to be another title in the works.

According to Insider Gaming, an anonymous source has revealed to them that a new AAA game involving the Alien license is currently in development, with a planned Holiday 2023 release window. Details on just who is developing the game weren’t revealed. However, the game is being developed under the codename “Marathon”, and will be a current-gen only game with a AAA budget behind it. The game will also be in the Survival Horror vein, taking inspiration from franchises like Dead Space and Resident Evil.

The same source also revealed that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is either in development or being pitched. Once again, the developer behind the project wasn’t given. So like the first game, put this one in the rumour column.

Obviously, take this news with your usual helping of salt when it comes to rumours like these. That being said, with The Game Awards coming up fast, that would be a perfect opportunity to drop some form of tease regarding either project. After all, Focus Entertainment’s Aliens: Dark Descent was revealed during Summer Game Fest this past June. We’ll find out one way or another.

And if for whatever reason you haven’t played Alien: Isolation, you can grab it now on Steam for a cool 80% discount until November 29.

‘El Paso, Elsewhere’ – LaKeith Stanfield Starring in Adaptation of Monster Hunting Video Game

Last year’s monster hunting shooter El Paso, Elsewhere is headed to the screen, with THR reporting that LaKeith Stanfield (Haunted Mansion) will star in the live action film adaptation.

Stanfield will also produce the film alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

THR notes in today’s report, “There is no writer or director, as the project is still being packaged in the hopes of finding a studio home. The package is seen as buzzy, as it is a video game adaptation, a bustling genre thanks to titles such as The Last of Us, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and the most recent hit, Fallout.”

In the upcoming movie version of El Paso, Elsewhere, “Recovering from a toxic relationship, James Savage (LaKeith Stanfield) confronts both his inner demons and enigmatic ex-girlfriend, Janet, before she executes a world-ending ritual. James navigates her reality-bending universe of ethereal monsters while facing the truth of his own addictions and skewed sense of self-worth. James learns that the only route to love is through healing.”

Developer Strange Scaffold’s El Paso, Elsewhere was released this past September.

Aaron Boehm wrote in his 4-star review here on Bloody Disgusting, “Much like its inspiration Max Payne, and other games in Remedy’s catalog, there’s a clear vision that unites every frame of this game, making for an experience that both reignites a classic action subgenre and forges an identity all its own. Few games have a better elevator pitch than El Paso, Elsewhere, and it’s awesome to see it live up to those expectations with style and heart.”
