PC Demo, New Trailer Released For Upcoming Survival Horror ‘Stray Souls’ [Video]
We’re still waiting on developer Jukai Studio to give us a firm release date for their upcoming Survival Horror Soulslike Stray Souls. But in the meantime, the team has gifted us with a demo that you can play right now from the Steam page for Stray Souls, as well as a new announce trailer.
The Stray Souls demo begins with the game’s protagonist, Daniel, and a mysterious girl named Martha arriving outside the Aspen Falls police station, which is currently locked down. Players will explore the area in search of a way inside, but in the process, encounter dark forces intent on keeping them out.
Stray Souls combines elements of Japanese survival horror games with an array of new mechanics, including a variety of randomized systems where enemy encounters, item placement, paranormal activity and even weather patterns are always changing so no two playthroughs are exactly the same. Using the power of Metahuman technology and Unreal Engine 5, characters and environments are “authentically brought to life”, immersing you that much more into the dread and dismay of the narrative.
“We’re big fans of Japanese horror and Stray Souls is a love letter to everything we adore about the genre,” said Jukai Studio Owner & Director Artur Łączkowski. “It’s creepy in a psychological way, with nightmarish enemies enshrouded in dreary, foggy environments where everything is just a little off in some way. It’s a dark reflection of our reality that’s full of fantastic elements, but remains just familiar enough to get under our skin. We hope this demo gives players a glimpse of the tone and gameplay that awaits when the full game releases later this year.”
Stray Souls will be coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series later this year.
