Original ‘Clock Tower’ Being Remastered by WayForward, Coming Early 2024 for PC and Consoles [Trailer]

Clock Tower fans got a surprise earlier today with the announcement that WayForward and Limited Run Games will be bringing the cult Survival Horror classic to a new generation in early 2024. An enhanced “Port+” version of the Super Famicom version of Clock Tower is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Not counting the PS1 version (which in itself was enhanced from the Super Famicom version), this marks the first time that the original Clock Tower will be officially be translated and released in North America and Europe. Using Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, this new edition of Clock Tower will maintain the gameplay, graphics, and sound of the original version, but will also add modern features and enhancements.

These enhancements include a new vocal theme song performed by Mary McGlynn (of Silent Hill fame), a new animated opening, motion-comic cutscenes before and after the game, a bonus art gallery, border artwork, save states, multiple language options, and more.

Along with a digital release in North America and Europe by WayForward, Clock Tower will also be getting a physical version on select platforms by Limited Run Games. Details on this remaster, along with information on the physical preorder window, will be announced at a later date.

For those unfamiliar with Clock Tower (as we’re well acquainted with it), the original game was developed and published by Human Entertainment for the Super Famicom back in 1995. The story follows orphan Jennifer Simpson, who shortly after being adopted by the Barrows family, finds herself trapped in the Barrows Mansion, and stalked by a killer known as Scissorman. Jennifer must explore the Barrows Mansion to find a way to escape while evading Scissorman.

Behaviour Interactive Partners With Haenir Studio to Develop ‘Blight: Survival’

Behaviour Interactive is busy this week. Already having dropped a new teaser trailer for The Casting of Frank Stone, they’ve now announced that they’re teaming up with Icelandic developers Haenir Studio to help with development of the Medieval co-op action horror title Blight: Survival.

“Teaming up with Behaviour Interactive signals the next major phase of development for Blight: Survival,” said Haenir Studio Co-Founder, Mads Christensen. “With Blight: Survival, we set out to deliver an ambitious and unique experience for players. Being able to utilize Behaviour’s resources, expertise, and horror pedigree will be instrumental in bringing our vision to life. We’re thrilled to kick off this journey together.”

First announced back in 2022, Blight: Survival takes place in the no man’s land between two desperate kingdoms locked in a ceaseless war. Within this realm of death and decay, a new strain of Blight has erupted from the remains of the fallen. Fed and strengthened by the blood that’s been spilled, it rapidly spreads, turning man into monster. As a result, the call goes out for those brave enough to take on the dead with the promise of wealth as a reward.

“As a game we were already looking forward to playing ourselves, we couldn’t be happier about this collaboration,” shared Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President at Behaviour Interactive. “Working with talented studios like Haenir Studio in this type of partnership will be a focus for us as we look to publish more and more external games in the coming years. This is the start of something new and exciting for Behaviour, and we’ll be keeping our eyes open for interesting opportunities.”

While Blight: Survival does not currently have a release date, Haenir Studio and Behaviour Interactive are eager to share more details about the game and its ongoing development in the future. Currently, you can wishlist the game on Steam.
