DreadXP Teases Xbox, PlayStation Release of ‘The Mortuary Assistant’ Later This Year

Published

on

Already available on Steam and the Nintendo Switch, DreadXP took to X yesterday to announce that they’re teaming up with Cerulean Games to port DarkStone Digital’s The Mortuary Assistant to the PlayStation and Xbox later this year. A more formal announcement is expected later this year.

We’re also hoping for more info on the upcoming film adaptation of The Mortuary Assistant, which was announced last year. The film is to be directed by Jeremiah Kipp (Sins, Slapface), with Patrick Ewald producing, Abbey Smith co-producing, and DarkStone Digital’s Brian Clarke and Ted Hentschke executive producing.

Released back in 2022 (check out Harrison’s take), The Mortuary Assistant centres on Rebecca Owens, a recent Mortician Studies grad, who on her first night at River Fields Mortuary, learns of a sinister presence that resides there. As the dead awaken and malevolent spirits bind themselves to her, Rebecca has to learn how to combat the demons (including the figurative demons of her past) and survive the night.

Behaviour Interactive Partners With Haenir Studio to Develop ‘Blight: Survival’

Behaviour Interactive is busy this week. Already having dropped a new teaser trailer for The Casting of Frank Stone, they’ve now announced that they’re teaming up with Icelandic developers Haenir Studio to help with development of the Medieval co-op action horror title Blight: Survival.

“Teaming up with Behaviour Interactive signals the next major phase of development for Blight: Survival,” said Haenir Studio Co-Founder, Mads Christensen. “With Blight: Survival, we set out to deliver an ambitious and unique experience for players. Being able to utilize Behaviour’s resources, expertise, and horror pedigree will be instrumental in bringing our vision to life. We’re thrilled to kick off this journey together.”

First announced back in 2022, Blight: Survival takes place in the no man’s land between two desperate kingdoms locked in a ceaseless war. Within this realm of death and decay, a new strain of Blight has erupted from the remains of the fallen. Fed and strengthened by the blood that’s been spilled, it rapidly spreads, turning man into monster. As a result, the call goes out for those brave enough to take on the dead with the promise of wealth as a reward.

“As a game we were already looking forward to playing ourselves, we couldn’t be happier about this collaboration,” shared Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President at Behaviour Interactive. “Working with talented studios like Haenir Studio in this type of partnership will be a focus for us as we look to publish more and more external games in the coming years. This is the start of something new and exciting for Behaviour, and we’ll be keeping our eyes open for interesting opportunities.”

While Blight: Survival does not currently have a release date, Haenir Studio and Behaviour Interactive are eager to share more details about the game and its ongoing development in the future. Currently, you can wishlist the game on Steam.
