Fan-Made VR Mod for PC Version of ‘Silent Hill 2’ Remake Now Available [Video]

Published

on

So, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake is great and all, but you know what’s missing? VR support. You know where this is going. Modder Praydog (who has done VR mods for the PC versions of the recent Resident Evil games and the System Shock remake) has done it again with a VR mod for Silent Hill 2, allowing you to play the game from a first-person perspective.

What’s cool about this mod is that it supports two-handed weapons and full melee combat with motion controls. As a result (and you can see it in the video below), players can hit enemies in the legs to incapacitate them, and pull off some fancy combos. Physics have even been applied to the hit areas, causing limbs to move when they’ve been struck.

The mod also supports 6DOF Roomscale with smooth movement, as well as a properly projected crosshair in the 3D space. You won’t be able to experience the cutscenes in VR, as the mod will disable its VR features in cutscenes and full-body events, but this is to ensure a better gaming experience (read: you probably don’t want to see things being broken in the cutscene as a result of your freedom of movement).

As an added touch (no pun intended), the map is attached to both hands in order to simulate holding a map as you would in real life, while items are attached to the right hand when inspecting or receiving them.

You’ll of course need a VR helmet to experience all of this. You can download the mod from its Github page, and enjoy Pyramid Head up close and personal. Fingers crossed that Bloober Team takes note of this, and perhaps works in official VR support in a later Silent Hill 2 update, or even incorporates the feature in its recently-announced sci-fi horror title Cronos: The New Dawn.

Thanks to DSOGaming for the original story.

Physical PS5 Release Announced for Underwater Horror Title ‘Dark Mass’ [Trailer]

Published

on

Path Games provided an update for its in-development underwater haunted house title Dark Mass, revealing that the game will receive a physical release for PlayStation 5 as both a Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition. The reveal also coincides with a new trailer that delves into the gameplay.

Dark Mass sees players take on the role of Alice, a deep-sea explorer who, alongside her brother Reed, stumbles upon the wreckage of an ancient ship. But beneath the ship lies they discover a manor lost to time, eerily untouched despite spending centuries in the ocean.

Alice decides to venture inside, but she soon realises that something is watching from the darkness, bound to the manor by a dark curse. Trapped within the manor’s decaying halls, Alice must now uncover the manor’s tragic past, solve puzzles based on real historical torture rituals, and make decisions that will ultimately define her fate.

Both the Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition will be published by SelectaPlay, with the Collector’s Edition having been designed “for horror fans and collectors,” bringing together a selection of physical items inspired by Alice’s journey, the mystery of the sunken manor and the unsettling atmosphere of the abyss.

The Standard Edition includes a physical copy of the game, along with an illustrated manual. Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition includes the physical copy and manual, along with the following:

  • Collector’s Box
  • Official Art Book
  • Lenticular postcard
  • Alice’s turtle bracelet
  • Original Soundtrack in Digipack format
  • Exclusive Steelbook

In addition to the PlayStation 5, Dark Mass will be coming to the Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. The game is currently aiming for a fall 2026 release.
