Solo developer Michael Neumann offers you a chance later this year to take a stroll in his upcoming single-player escape roguelite, Night Hike. Coming to Steam Q4 2026, the game is set in a never-ending wilderness loop, where you must navigate strange encounters and uncover secret trails as you search for a way out of the endless night.
Choose which path to follow, when to turn back and which risks are worth taking. Every route offers branching opportunities and no two trips in Night Hike will unfold the same way. When the loop resets, so does your progress.
Luckily, you’re not completely lost, thanks to a mysterious compass. When the woods tests you, a spin of the needle determines success or failure. Upgrade and modify it to improve your odds and turn uncertainty into strategy as things grow more unforgiving.
Of course, as these things go, you’re not alone in the woods. The night reveals supernatural encounters and faces in the shadows, but are they friend or are they foe? Your interactions can shape your journey as much as the trails you choose.
Above all, hidden throughout your journey are secrets that might reveal the way out. Pay attention to patterns, symbols and subtle changes in the environment as you travel. Understanding how the woods work may be the key to escaping them.
