More Lovecraftian strategy gaming is on the way next year, thanks to Crimson Herring Studios and Zugalu Entertainment, who have announced their new strategy title, Isles of Innsmouth. Coming to Steam, the game takes a more relaxed approach to the typical tension found in Lovecraftian titles, tapping into those “cozy-horror” vibes.
This minimalist city-builder has you placing buildings to grow your settlement and appease the Elder Gods. They in turn reward you with new islands and structures. Discover synergies to improve your score, or you can choose to just relax and build in the game’s creative sandbox mode.
You’ll have over 60 different structures available to discover, with the aforementioned synergies between buildings adding visual interest to your creations. No two games are the same, with unique deck order and island placements each time. You can even share seeds with your friends to see who can get the best score using your map.
In keeping with the laid back atmosphere, Isles of Innsmouth also features a Photo Mode, where you take control of the camera, lighting, and weather effects to capture the perfect photo of your island creation. The whole experience is capped off with the game’s “gloomy ambient” soundtrack.
