Ahead of this year’s Gamescom, CD Projekt RED Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski released a video announcing that The Witcher IV will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2028. In addition, CD Projekt RED will be making an appearance at Gamescom to discuss the future of the franchise, including the upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3 in Songs of the Past.
“We’re going big this year with something very special: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past,” says Nowakowski. “We have a lot of the expansion to show off, including a taste of its dark story and the new content it will bring, so join us at Gamescom if you can, where we have a huge booth in Hall 8 and a team ready to show off the first full look at Songs of the Past. And make sure to tune into special RED streams when they go live each and every day. We might even have a surprise or two to share.
Nowakowski continued, stating that while The Witcher IV won’t be making an appearance at this year’s Gamescom, he did state that the devteam is aiming for a 2028 release window. “I know it’s a bit of a wait and you’d love to play it sooner, but let the team cook. It will be worth the wait. Until then, there will be plenty more of The Witcher to come, including Songs of the Past when it launches in 2027. And you can be sure Gamescom is also in our plans for the coming years. See you on the path!”
