How Long Until You See the Monster In These Horror Films?

Published

on

One of the most idiotic common complaints about the new Godzilla is that it takes too long for Godzilla to appear on screen. This is a stupid complaint, considering some of the all-time greats were the first to utilize the “wait for the climax” formula. The problem with Godzilla isn’t that it takes too long for the monster to appear on screen, it’s that nothing else in the film is interesting or engaging, so it feels like an eternity.

It’s ironic because Godzilla director Gareth Edwards echoes various Steven Spielberg films, including Jaws and Jurassic Park, two films that also make viewers wait quite a bit for the big reveal. In light of this argument, Buzzfeed made the below cheesy video that takes a look at how long until viewers had to wait to see the monsters in films from Godzilla to A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Any guesses as to the longest wait?
