YouTube channel RangarRox has posted the first of a two-part series titled “The Gods of Silent Hill”, focusing on Valtiel, the strange creature that looms throughout Silent Hill 3 without ever attacking the protagonist, Heather Mason. The video seeks to answer the question, “Who is The Red God?”, diving headfirst into the complex and rich religion created specifically for the franchise.
It’s a very interesting video in that it uses a ton of in-game material as well as focusing on some fascinating symbolism (that could be argued) that appears in the game. It also connects games 1 through 3 with several recurring images, bits of information, and enemies.

It still amazes me how deep the mythology of Silent Hill runs and how far people want to look. Team Silent really did create something amazing that can be studied and researched for years to come. I just hope somebody puts together everything into a compendium because I’d absolutely devote several evenings to poring over that bit of lore.
