This week sees the release of Steven Spielberg’s latest, the nostalgia-fueled, virtual reality-centered Ready Player One. An adaptation of Ernest Cline’s novel, the film will feature the largest collection of pop culture characters ever assembled into one movie, including a whole host of your favorite horror icons.
Previous trailers and TV spots have given us glimpses of Freddy Krueger, Chucky and Stephen King’s Christine, and we’re hearing there’s even a brief appearance from Gremlins‘ Stripe. As Meredith Borders recently wrote up, there’s even an entire sequence in the film that’s a total homage to one of the greatest horror films of all time.
A new international trailer this week reveals that Jason Voorhees also makes a virtual reality cameo in the Oasis, the film’s playground filled with pop culture references.
