Much has been rumored about the near future of the Alien franchise, with talks of a potential TV series and a new video game (possibly titled Alien: Blackout) coming our way, and the official social media accounts for the brand have been promising that *something* is indeed coming this year. 2019 is, after all, the 40th anniversary of the original classic.
One thing we do know for certain is that the story of Alien: Isolation character Amanda Ripley (the daughter of Ellen Ripley) will be continued in Dark Horse’s upcoming comic book series Aliens: Resistance, a 4-issue sequel to the Alien: Isolation video game. And just last night, the Alien Twitter account dropped a teaser for what may or may not be that series.
“Daughter. Rebel. Hero. Her story deserves to be told,” the tweet reads, and includes the hashtags #Whois, #AmandaRipley, #ReadPlayWatch, #Daughter, #Rebel and #Hero.
The video itself notes that this mystery project is “Coming Soon,” and it plays up that “Read. Play. Watch.” tagline. It’s possible this is just marketing for that Aliens: Resistance comic book series, or it could be something else entirely. Could the story of Amanda Ripley be continued in the form of a television series or a new video game? Perhaps multiple projects?
